Notion AI Review
AI writing assistant built into Notion. Summarize, brainstorm, draft, and refine content directly within your workspace.
Our Review
Notion AI is not a standalone tool — it's an AI layer built into the popular Notion workspace. This integration is both its greatest strength and limitation. If you already use Notion for notes, project management, or documentation, the AI features feel seamless and invaluable. However, if you don't use Notion, there's little reason to adopt it just for the AI. After using it for content planning and documentation, we found it significantly reduces the friction between ideation and organization.
How to Use Notion AI
Getting Started with Notion AI
Notion AI requires an existing Notion workspace. Once enabled (Settings → Notion AI), press the spacebar on any blank page to activate the AI assistant. Try "Summarize this page" on a long document, or "Write a draft" for a new page. The AI integrates seamlessly into your existing Notion workflow.
Content Planning Workflow
Use Notion AI to brainstorm content calendars: create a database of topics, ask AI to generate outlines for each, then expand individual sections into full drafts. The ability to ask questions across your entire workspace ("What did we decide about the Q2 marketing strategy?") makes it invaluable for knowledge retrieval.
Meeting Note Automation
Paste your meeting transcript or notes and ask Notion AI to "Extract action items with assignees" or "Summarize key decisions in bullet points." This transforms rambling meeting discussions into structured, actionable notes in seconds.
Customizing AI Behavior
Notion AI lets you adjust tone, length, and format. Highlight any text and choose from options like "Make shorter," "Change tone," or "Translate." For consistent team output, create custom prompt templates for recurring tasks like weekly reports, project briefs, and client communications.

Our Verdict
Notion AI is a must-have add-on if you're already a Notion user. The $10/month fee is reasonable for the productivity boost it provides. But if you're looking for the most powerful AI assistant, standalone tools like ChatGPT or Claude will outperform it.
